Lance Huffman has been a high school English and Social Studies teacher for thirteen years. He has a Masters degree in Educational Leadership. He has worked with at-risk students and managed programs for Native American students in public schools. As a teacher, no issue is more important to Lance than the issue of social justice and he is specifically dedicated to deconstructing institutions that promote inequity.  He has facilitated numerous workshops for students and teachers to help them identify their own prejudices and empower them to work toward more just and equitable schools.

 


Michael Sliwa has been a high school teacher for seven years and has a B.A. in Communications and Public Address.  Michael began his teaching career instructing at-risk students. He has taught English, Social Studies, Speech, Newspaper, and Drama. Michael was President of the TUEA (Tolleson Union Education Association) for two terms. He helped create The Knight Crew, a peer mentoring program on campus and is currently facilitating and developing social justice programs for students and educators. Michael believes that social change through awareness and activism creates globally-minded people.
